My name is Madelyn Celio and I am a senior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I am about to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science and my minor in Equine Science. Along with my education, I am a member of the Cal Poly Rodeo team and have been competing with them for the past 3 years. I am also a member of the California Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association and regularly compete in rodeos and jackpots with my barrel horse “Amarillo Skys” or as we call him, “Big Grey”. I compete mainly in barrel racing, but have also had some roping experience (breakaway and heading). I started riding when I was around 8 years old, and it immediately became my lifestyle. Since then, I have finished one of my own horses under saddle and patterened two of them. I have also taken the Cal Poly colt breaking class where I had the opportunity to start and train 2 year old gelding under saddle. In order to support my goal of receiving my degrees and my dream of competing in rodeo, I have always held a job while in college. For the past year I have been blessed to work with Riding Warehouse, an online tack and apparel store based out of San Luis Obispo (we now carry Kime’s jeans!). At the start of this year I was promoted to web content director and am now in charge of writing product descriptions, creating product videos, managing the website appearance, working with our buyers and modeling the jeans and breeches for the website. As I have a passion for western tack and apparel, this position has been a great experience for me. I am able to stay up to date on the newest products, and even get to try on every pair of jeans that comes through! Outside of rodeo, school and work, I also recently started a small leather business called “Mad C Leather”. I hand craft, bead and tool belts, bracelets, dog collars, hat bands and anything else! I have always loved western fashion and this business has allowed me to help support myself while doing what I love. (I included a picture of me and a friend in some fedoras I made in my dropbox. I am entering this modeling contest because I have a passion for horses, western fashion, and jeans, all of which are encompassed by this company. The Kimes Ranch company and jeans have both proved to have integrity and traditional qualities that I value, and I would love the opportunity to represent such a respectable brand.
