Pantone Color of the Year

Have you ever wondered why do some colors and styles fly off the shelves while others end up in a bargain bin? What makes a color or pattern the “it child”?

It usually starts with the announcement of the Pantone color of the year and builds from there. Clothing designers, beauty experts and interior designers take the color and run with it. So what is the 2015 color of the year?

“Marsala”, named after a wine the rich hue, its sure to pair well this year. Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®, Leatrice Eiseman claimed the color as “hearty” saying “the stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”

If you are a makeup guru, you may have encountered the hue in lipsticks, blushes and nail polishes, as it’s universally flattering on all skin tones.

The hue combines well with all neutrals but grey gives perhaps the highest flattery, and black the edgiest look. For those of you who choose to rock the floppy hat, Marsala is an excellent color choice as it’s seasonally unchanged.

For those of us that live life off of Fashion Avenue, Kimes Ranch offers their Jersey Hoodie in what I consider a “Marsala” option. The jersey knit allows for comfort and durability as we begin the transition out of winter.
